Assistance Programs

There programs are available to assist with care to help maintain a healthy lifestyle or to remain living at home safely. Additionally, these programs are offered through the Bureau of Senior Services, the Department of Health & Human Resources, or other agencies/organizations, the ADRC can help you with information, eligibility, and the application process.

The Aging Well, Safe at Home Initiative

WV Bureau of Senior Services Home Modification and Accessibility Grant Program

Provides adults age 60+, who can demonstrate a need for home modifications and/or accessibility devices with assistance to live more independently at home.

Provides eligible seniors who reside in Clay, Boone, Fayette, Kanawha, Lincoln or Putnam counties with dental procedures up to $1,200.

Assists qualifying residents of long-term care facilities who wish to return to their own homes and apartments in the community and provide them with supports and services they need to do so.

Aged & Disabled Waiver (ADW)

Is a long-term care option that provides in-home care and community help. It allows a person to remain at or return home instead of receiving nursing home care. Services in the program promote choice, self-reliance, respect and community care.

Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Waiver

Is for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The applicant must be 3 years of age or older and have a diagnosis of an intellectual disability and/or related conditions prior to age 22.

Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver

This program helps individuals 3 years and above with severe brain injuries stay at home in West Virginia. To join, you must meet medical and financial requirements. The goal is to improve independence, respect, and community involvement.
